Garrett Ham
Attorney · Veteran · Servant Leader
The constitutional conservative with a servant's heart — writing about faith, service, and the rule of law from Northwest Arkansas.
The Story
In 2019, a JAG officer and Baptist-university valedictorian walked into Yale Divinity School. He wasn't there to be converted. He was there because the best way to sharpen your convictions is to test them against the strongest counterarguments — and Yale offered plenty. He left New Haven with a Master of Divinity, deeper faith, and the kind of intellectual confidence that comes from engaging the opposition on its own turf.
A Man of Faith
Faith isn't a private footnote for Garrett — it's the foundation. An openly Catholic, evangelical-leaning believer, he approaches theology as both a spiritual practice and an intellectual pursuit. His theological writing sits alongside his legal and political work, reflecting a conviction that serious faith demands serious thinking. The public square is better when people of faith show up with both conviction and charity.
Service in Uniform
Garrett's military career spans two branches of the armed forces. He commissioned as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Army, where he served as a trial counsel prosecuting military justice cases. He then transitioned to the Air Force JAG Corps, completing JASOC and continuing his service in military law. The JAG Corps taught him discipline, duty, and the weight of the law when liberty is at stake.
The Practice of Law
Back in Arkansas, Garrett built a legal practice grounded in the needs of his community. His work spans estate planning — helping families protect what they've built — business law for local entrepreneurs, and appellate practice where constitutional questions meet real-world consequences. The law, at its best, is a shield for the individual against the overreach of power.
Community and Place
Garrett's commitment to Northwest Arkansas runs deep. He serves as an officer of the Benton County Republican Party, runs Weekender Management, and has been profiled for his community engagement and charitable work. He believes that the strongest communities are built by people who invest in the place where they live — not by distant institutions imposing top-down solutions.
Why This Blog Exists
This site exists for personal civic engagement and community discussion. It's a place to think out loud about the things that matter — faith and its role in public life, the duties of service, the principles of constitutional liberty, and what it means to build a community worth passing on. The writing here is serious but accessible, rooted in conviction but open to conversation.
