About the Garrett Ham Scholarship

I established this scholarship in 2008 while a student at the University of Arkansas School of Law. I wanted to encourage Christian Studies students like Chris Redmon to participate in the Honors Program. Specifically, I wanted them to commit to writing a fully developed thesis.

I graduated from Ouachita in 2007. I conceived of this scholarship after observing a lack of participation in the Honors Program among my fellow Christian Studies majors. The Garrett Ham Scholarship provides students with approximately $1,300 to aid their research efforts. They may use the funds to travel to academic conferences or acquire scholarly materials.

Chris Redmon’s Grant

The Ouachita Honors Council chaired by Dr. Barbara Pemberton selected Chris Redmon as this year’s recipient. Chris is a junior Biblical Studies, Biblical Languages, and Philosophy triple major from Little Rock, Arkansas. He has thus far used the award to purchase thirty-five books to aid his research efforts.

Chris Redmon will utilize the scholarly material to write his thesis. He will present his findings at the 2014 Ouachita Baptist University Scholars Day next spring.
